Oklahoma Supreme Court Strikes Down Comprehensive Tort Reform

In two June rulings, the Oklahoma Supreme Court struck down Oklahoma’s 2009 Tort Reform Legislation. The Court declared a tort reform bill violated the Oklahoma Constitution's requirement that legislation cover only a single subject. The Legislature is expected to soon reconvene in a special session to pass the same law again. Senate leadership has indicated that about two dozen bills may be filed for that effort.
